Dr. Melissa Hartley earned her B.S. and M.S. in Varying Exceptionalities from Florida State University, before earning her Ph.D. in Special Education, with a minor in Quantitative Research, from Claremont Graduate University in California. In 2010, she joined West Virginia University as a faculty member in the Department of Special Education at the College of Education and Human Services. Dr. Hartley's areas of research expertise/interest include, educational statistics, supply and demand of special education doctorates, and virtual reality simulations for preservice and inservice teachers' pedagogical and collaboration skill acquisition, maintenance and refinement.
