Additional Endorsement in Preschool Special Needs

In conjunction with the Department of Child Development and Family Studies’ Birth through Pre-Kindergarten Early Childhood Education Program, we offer a blended undergraduate program that leads to initial certification and an additional endorsement in special education in the area of pre-school special needs.

Online Programs and Courses

At the graduate level, we offer a series of online certification and master’s degree programs in special education with emphasis in the areas of autism spectrum disorders, early intervention/early childhood special education, gifted education, low vision/blindness, multicategorical special education, and severe/multiple disabilities.

Doctoral Degree Program in Special Education

As part of the College’s doctorate in education, we offer a research-based doctoral degree program leading to an Ed.D. focusing on personnel preparation in special education to prepare future faculty members or school leadership for special education to prepare administrators and supervisors.

Disability Studies Program

We are also pleased to collaborate with the WVU Center for Excellence in Disabilities, a part of Robert C. Byrd Health Sciences Center, in offering an interdisciplinary certificate program in disability studies available at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
