Course Offerings

All required courses in the Doctoral Program Emphasis in Special Education are offered on a two (2) year cycle or at least once every other year. While ALL courses are offered every other year, students typically take a minimum of three (3) years to complete the program at 6-9 hours per semester.

Program Delivery: Two (2) Year Cycle

Courses in the major area are available on a two (2) year cycle. Please check the WVU schedule for more information.

Most courses in the research and foundations core are usually offered every semester.

Courses in the minor and foundations areas may be available on a restricted schedule. Please check the WVU schedule for more information.

ALL required courses in the special education major are delivered online, using a combination of real time sessions via videoconferencing and on demand learning activities and assessments throughout each academic semester. All activities are conducted online within the WVU eCampus learning management system or using other online collaboration platforms. All activities are conducted in English.

Students must earn an average of 80% or better on the required assignments designated for each course and also achieve a grade of B or better in each course or they may be dropped from the program. A grade of Incomplete will only be approved for emergency situations; all requirements must be completed prior to the end of the next academic semester.
